South Lakeland


Location of Brow Top
Brow Top holiday house is situated between Bowness and Windermere, South Lakeland towns in The Lake District National Park, Cumbria. Both towns are within walking distance of Brow Top (0.7 mile to Bowness
and 1 mile to Windermere). The house is 22 miles from junction 36 of the M6; Windermere railway station is 1.1 mile away.

 

The Towns
The towns have been popular since Victorian times and offer a wealth of shops, eateries, amenities and attractions. Windermere town developed after the opening of the railway station in 1847, it is about a mile from the shore of Lake Windermere; England’s largest natural lake. The town of Bowness-On-Windermere (as it is officially named)
surrounds part of the Lake shore. There is wonderful Lake and mountain scenery to enjoy all year round. 

 

The Lake District National Park
This is England's largest National Park, located in the North West of the country in the county of Cumbria. The region is mountainous and also known for its lakes and forests. William Wordsworth and other famous pets are associated with the region. All the land in England higher than 3,000 feet (910 m) above sea level is within the National Park, including the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.


Nearby
To the South of Windermere the lovely village of Staveley can be found and beyond that the town of Kendal, famous for its Mint Cake. To the north of Windermere the town of
Ambleside and village of Grasmere are both great destinations for a day out.
